TOSA has staff members in Austin, San Antonio, and McAllen.JOB SUMMARY: The Per Diem Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC) provides support to primary ORCs from a satellite location. The Per Diem ORC is responsible for coordination of activities associated with the recovery and utilization of organs for transplantation. This includes fulfilling an extensive, responding to initial donor referrals, evaluating potential donors, obtaining family consent, completing medical/social history forms and providing donor management until the Primary ORCs assume care.
- Accepts 24 hour on call responsibility on a pre-set schedule that has been approved by the Regional Director or his/her designee.
- Responds to all donor referrals promptly and appropriately by telephone and/or on-site according to Recovery Services Policies and Procedures.
- Obtains accurate medical information for evaluation of potential organ and tissue donors according to TOSA/UNOS/CDC guidelines
- Discusses organ donation options with family member(s) of potential donors and obtains informed consent for organ donation where applicable.
- Interviews next of kin and completes Med/Soc history per established guidelines
- Coordinates referrals with the regional TOSA coordinator and ICU staff.
- Manages donor if necessary or coordinates donor management with the regional Organ Procurement Coordinators and ICU staff.
- Collaborates with coroners, Justices of the Peace, tissue recovery agencies and medical/nursing staff as necessary.
- Coordinates the logistics for multiple organ procurement and organ placement wherever applicable.
- Verifies that all medical-legal documentation is completed according to TOSA/UNOS/CDC guidelines.
- Follows procedures established by TOSA for completing referrals and disposition of data.
Candidates will be considered who have critical care experience, ie. Paramedic or Nursing.
