Working collaboratively with other Cornell Health departments, medical staff aspire to a data-driven approach to provide high-quality, accessible, cost-effective, culturally-sensitive, and developmentally-appropriate care and services to Cornell's student population, meeting the routine and urgent needs of patients.The Per Diem Psychiatry Staff Nurse assists students in gaining access to the right level of care to assess and support their psychotropic medication management needs. This not only includes supporting students being seen by our own psychiatry providers, but also assessing needs of students who may be scheduled to see a PCP, a telehealth vendor, or a community provider. In varying duration and frequency, registered Psychiatry Staff Nurses can expect to: answer patient medical questions (in-person, by telehealth, or by phone), independently perform nursing procedures, provide patient teaching as needed, document patient interactions in electronic health record (maintaining confidentiality) and use university and community resources for patient care and referrals.
