Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in the clinical field
- New York State Licensed Practical Nurse
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse Certification (WOCN) - If none at the time of hire must obtain within one (1) year from the date hire.
Job Description The Per Diem Wound Care Specialist coordinates and facilitates all aspects of care related to wounds, ostomies and incontinence throughout the Hospital. Provides consultation and direct assistance in the management of patients with altered skin integrity (pressure necrosis, wounds, fistulas, etc). Provide in-service programs as needed to assist nursing, rehabilitation and medical staff to maintain knowledge and competence in wound care. Collects, analyzes and document information and statistics related to wounds in the Hospital. Performs clinical evaluations for potential wound admissions.
