This includes previously employed applicants who have beengone from the organization longer than 90 days.The Surgical Technologist andor the Certified Surgical Technologist preparesthe room and gathers supplies needed for surgical procedures; deliversinstruments and supplies to the surgeon and other members of the surgical teamintra operatively; may function as second assistant to the surgeon; assists inthe proper decontamination of the room, supplies and instruments postoperatively.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESPrepares for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies,equipment and instruments, reviews surgeons preferences to determine requireditems. Establishes and maintains a sterile field and presents instruments tothe operating team. Delivers appropriate instrumentssupplies utilizing properprinciples of sterile technique. Acts as 2nd assistant to surgeon, performingduties related to draping, operative site exposure. Responsible for removal ofall sharps and initials return card for verification. Functions as 2ndcircular with RN supervision. Can hold extremities. Assist with casting andsplinting. Mixes medications on the sterile field once verification by aregistered nurse has occurred. Assist with positioning, can fix specimens informalin, may do in annual competence y , assists circulator in proper careand handling of surgical specimens. Can wash and thaw grafts, can hold astapler while surgeon fires it, can operate skin stapler for the purpose ofwound approximation, and can assist with the dislocation of joints if yearlycompetency is accomplished. Can cut suture material as directed by and underthe supervision of a surgeon, Can apply ESU to clamps or forceps forhemostatis under the direct supervision of the surgeon, can assist anesthesiaif yearly competency is accomplished, Can assist with patient skin prep ifyearly competency is accomplished, Can change out camera and roboticinstruments during endoscopic procedures under the direct supervision of thesurgeon, Can manipulate the uterus during robotic cases under the directsupervision of the surgeon.**Minimum Qualifications:**High School or GEDBLS - Basic Life Support - American HeartAssociationAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Heart Association** _MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS_**Education andor Experience* ## Completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or* ## Graduated from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school or equivalent military training or 10+ years' experience as a Surgery Technician.* ## High school diploma or GED* ## BLS* ## ST certification preferred* ## Must demonstrate basic critical thinking skills on their introductory team* ## Perform primary role independently* ## Demonstrate the ability to anticipate surgeon needs and communicates these with staff* ## Identify actual or potential emergency situations and intervene safely with assistance andor supervision* ## Complete basic skills and competencies in 2-3 service lines as delineated in the Surgery Skill Competency Checklist.* ## Independently scrub complex cases in 1-2 assigned service line specialties.**Work Shift:**Variable**Scheduled Weekly Hours :**40**Department**Surgery MainJoin us!... if your passion is to work in a caring environment... if you believe that learning is a life-long process... if you strive for excellence and want to be among the best in thehealthcare industryEqual Employment OpportunityOhioHealth is an equal opportunity employer and fully supports and maintainscompliance with all state, federal, and local regulations.
