Job Description:
Bay Area Hospital is looking for 3 full-time Physician Assistants (PAs) in the Orthopedics Department. Job Description:
  • Full-time
  • Day Shift + On call TBD based on number of providers sharing the call
  • Ability to work weekends occasionally
  • PAs are assigned to the pool of 2-3 surgeons.
  • In collaboration with the attending physician, prepares and records patient history, develops and implements a plan of care
  • Participates in daily rounds on assigned patients and documents the pertinent symptoms, findings, diagnoses and care plans.
  • Utilizes electronic medical record for order entry and documentation.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounding
  • Responds to coding and documentation queries and participates as requested in quality and safety initiatives.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Proficiency with the electronic health records for documentation, assessment, and care management, performing these activities concurrently with provision of care throughout the shift - Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, family members and the healthcare team - Ability to work independently and perform effectively in stressful and/or emergent situations - Demonstrates initiative and motivation - Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of Hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups - Understands of anatomy, diagnosis, treatment options, procedures, methods and equipment. - Ability to complete clinical and surgical responsibilities in a timely fashion - Analytical ability to monitor data, develop treatment plans and prescribe medication - Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective critical thinking skills - Flexible, able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently - Works effectively under stress and frequently changing job requirements/situations - Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: - Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently - Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs - Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision - Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects - Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair - May be required to lift up to 75 pounds - Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids - Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone - May require periodic use of personal computer

  • Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA) - REQUIRED
  • Oregon license (or willing to obtain) - REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience as inpatient Orthopedic PA (not including training) - PREFERRED
