POSITION DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLEPersonal Care Assistant (PCA)SUMMARYTo provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident'sphysician, support plan and as directed by your supervisor. Provide care per Federal/State regulations and by following established facility policies and procedures.Assist residents in all activities of daily living including, but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, nutritional needs, transferring, ambulating, toileting, and oral hygiene.Assist residents with clothing care, personal laundry, bed making, and light housekeeping.Practice infection control techniques ie, standard precautions to prevent the spread of infection.Observe residents and report changes in physical and emotional conditions to Administrator or supervisor.Report signs of poor intake to maintain proper nutrition and hydration levels.Maintain a safe work environment and exhibit safe work practices.Respond to all call bells and all resident requests regardless of assignment.Assist with prosthesis care, vision, hearing and speech needs.Perform basic emergency care procedures, first aid, CPR and ABD Thrusts if required and certified to do so.Encourage residents to participate in activities.Participate in training of new personnel.Exhibit knowledge of and effectively follow the emergency and disaster plans.Interact cooperatively with residents, families, visitors and co-workers.Attend all required education training programs monthly. Maintain confidentiality of residents, family, employee and facility information.Accountable for information contained in the employee handbook.Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner and performs other duties as requested by Administrator or Director of Wellness.REQUIREMENTSPosses a High School Diploma or GED and / or C.N.A. Certificate.Complete DPW testing prior to providing direct care.Requires frequent standing, walking, turning, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching and lifting to assist residents.Must be able to lift fifty pounds.Ability to operate office equipment.Alert and attentive to detail. Ability to remember names and places. Able to plan own work activities and manage multiple tasks. Residents always come first.Must present a neat, clean, professional appearance and demonstrate a positive, cheerful attitude towards associates and residents.Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors.Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel.I have read and understand the PCA Position Description. I am able to perform the identified responsibilities.I understand the first 90 days of employment are probationary.
