Job Description:

We are looking to hire a personal care assistant.

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Hours: 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, (30 Minute Unpaid Lunch Break)

Interview Process:

- 1 in person interview to offer. Interview will be about an hour. (They will go over the exact duties, Tour of Facility, Expectations, etc.)

*Must have experience working as a PCA/Paraprofessional/Paraeducator in a Public/Private/ or Educational School Setting

Paraprofessional - Emotional Support :

The job of Paraprofessional was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self- contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.

Minimum Requirements/Duties:

- High school diploma.

- Highly Qualified Paraprofessional status.

- Experience with children.

- Experience with students with behaviors (preferred).

- Flexibility and reliability.

- Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer.

- Adequate verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to function under the direction of the teacher.

- Good judgment.

- Ability to establish rapport with students.

- Ability to maintain positive relationships with program staff.

- Reliable means of transportation: Must Have CAR

Purpose

These positions are assigned to provide instructional, behavioral, and personal care support as

outlined in the student's Individual Education Plan or support for the classrooms in early

childhood education. These positions are directed by the teacher, instructors, or related service

personnel and is under the general supervision of the teacher, instructor, and the program

administration.

Essential Functions:

All job functions are to be executed through the lens of high-quality customer service, program

excellence, and safety for students. Customers are defined as both internal and external clients including

students, families, and LEA stakeholders. These essential functions will help ensure a comprehensive

approach to supporting students and maintaining a high standard of service.

 Adherence to DCIU Board Policies and Administrative Directives: Adhere to administrative

directives and policies to ensure a safe, professional, and productive learning environment. Must

adhere to Dress Code and Cell Phone and Earbud Standards.

 Professionalism: Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions, maintaining a positive and

respectful attitude and adhering to ethical standards.

 Collaboration with Teams: Participate in meetings and collaborate with other professionals,

including therapists, counselors, instructors, and special education teachers, to support student

needs and progress.

 Behavioral Support: Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans and support students in

developing appropriate social skills and behaviors.

 Academic Support (PCA): Provide academic assistance to student who one is assigned, under the

guidance of the classroom teacher or instructor.

 Academic Support (Paraprofessional and Instructional Aides): Provide academic assistance,

including modifying materials and providing one-on-one or small group instruction, under the

guidance of the classroom teacher or instructor.

 Data Collection and Reporting: Under the direction of the teacher or instructor, collect data on

student performance and behavior as required by charting a student's progress, the student's IEP,

and report findings to the required staff.

 Activities of Daily Living: Provide physical support to students, including during meals,

bathroom routines, and other activities allowing students to participate in activities.

 Crisis Intervention: Assist in de-escalating situations and provide support during crises,

following established protocols and training.

 Cultural Competence: Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for the diverse cultural

backgrounds of students and their families.

 Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and

other applicable laws and regulations.

 Environment Management: Help maintain an organized, clean, and conducive learning

environment.

 Other Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient

and effective functioning of the work unit.

Academic Supports: Reinforce or Monitor Instructional Task

Requirements (Must have majority of credentials on submittal within timeframe below. Their HR team approves of these before the interview):

- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- PA Child Abuse (Within 2 years)

- FBI Criminal Background Check, Fingerprints (Within 2 years)

- PA Criminal History Check (Within 2 Years)

- TB Test (within 3 Months) *If a candidate is just missing this, please send over.*

- Physical or documentation authorized to work. (Within 1 Year)

- Mandated Reporter Training Certification (within 4 or 5 years)

- CPR/First Aide

- Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form (Act 82 Form attached to JO)

- Completed Act 168 (please print for candidates to fill out, attached in JO)
