What Youll Do and Who You Are
Your training will teach you everything you need to know to succeed on the job, but there are a few character traits you need to bring to the job to be an exemplary caregiver:

You dont mind getting a little dirty. This can include but is not limited to, assisting clients with activities of daily living, such as providing assistance with personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, and dressing; light housekeeping; taking clients on outings or to appointments; and running errands.
You dont have to be a gourmet chef but you can prepare a good meal and work your way around a kitchen.
You are able to perform other assigned activities which are taught by a nurse, for a specific patient, which includes but is not limited to:
Assisting with the change of ostomy appliances
Reinforcing dressings
Assisting with the use of devices that aid in daily living (cane, walker, wheelchair, or lift device)
Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises
Assisting with self-administered simple urine tests for sugar acetone or albumin (may not interpret results)
Measuring and preparing special diets
Measuring intake and output
Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure)
Application of an external condom-style catheter
Assisting with the application of arm slings or arm/leg splint
Must Haves:
High school degree or a GED
Current Negative TB Screening less than 3 months old. (May obtain after accepting job offer.)
PCA only: Successfully complete the PCA Competency Evaluation that meets State licensing law for home health agencies
CNA only: Active certification and no adverse findings on Georgia Nurse Aide Registry
Current CPR certificate recommended. (RAH will provide training if needed.)
Have a valid driver's license and use of an insured vehicle for work -OR- access to adequate transportation.
Pass a fingerprint background check
Read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job
Must have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and the ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
