Job Description:

The Personal Trainer develops and implements individualized workout regimens and conducts fitness assessments for members while recruiting and retaining personal training clientele.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Designs and implement customized fitness programs for members based on their current fitness levels, physical challenges, preferences and goals.

* Delivers safe, effective, fun and interesting workouts to all fitness-training clients.

* Promotes and sells personal training services through interaction with members.

* Promotes all programs and services being offered at the YMCA, encouraging participation.

* Documents training sessions and maintains client records.

* Conducts fitness assessments and evaluations.

* Provides safe and effective instruction of all equipment and works at the skill level appropriate for each member.

* Maintains a varied schedule depending on client and branch needs.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.

* Current national NCCA-accredited Personal Trainer certification required before date of hire.

* Exception - Candidates who hold a BS in Exercise Science or Kinesiology must obtain a NCCA-accredited Personal Trainer certification within 90 days of hire.

* All YMCA employees are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Able to conduct fitness assessments and interpret results.

* Demonstrated skill designing personalized fitness programs for general populations and for people with specific concerns such as obesity, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, etc..

* Superior motivation, interpersonal, and sales skills.
