A Brief OverviewResponsible for providing personal training for a variety of types of clientele and tailoring the workout plan to the customer's health and wellness goals.
What You Will Do- Develops exercise programs based on customer goals and assessment findings.
- Instructs participant on proper form/technique. Provides motivation and feedback to client during the session while ensuring safety.
- Markets personal training services to members and non-members.
- Responsible for maintaining a personal training client base.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications:Education- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
- Associate's Degree (Preferred) or
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) or
- Master's Degree (Preferred) or
- Doctorate Degree in related field (Preferred)
Work Experience- less than 1 year of one-on-one training (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Strong communication and motivational skills. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate biomechanics and use of biofeedback. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to recognize different levels of injury and to respond with first aid only. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent customer service skills. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively educate and/or communicate with individuals regarding lifestyle modification. (Required proficiency)
- Skill in measuring heart rate, blood pressure and obtaining rating of perceived exertion (RPE) (Required proficiency)
- Skill in conducting measures for body composition and conducting follow up education. (Required proficiency)
- Skill to teach and demonstrate specific exercises (Required proficiency)
- Provides spotting techniques for clientele. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to adapt exercise programs based on chronic disease or other limitations (Required proficiency)
- Fitness Equipment knowledge - cardiovascular, strength/resistance. (Required proficiency)
- Skill in using telephones and computers to communicate with clients and to provide proper documentation. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED within 90 Days (Required)
- Current Certified Personal Trainer through an accredited provider (i.e. ACSM, NSCA, NASAM, ACE, AFAA, NETA) (Required)
