Job TitlePersonal Trainer Non-StudentDepartment Fitness Center JMWorker TypeTemporary (Fixed Term)Pay TypePeriod Activity PayBenefit EligibleNoJob Description SummaryPersonal trainers for Miami University are hired to assess, design, and supervise exercise programs for Recreational Center patrons. Trainers must have an appropriate understanding of the principles of human physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, and kinesiology in order to effectively design programs that are safe and compatible with the body's function, design, and patron's goals/concerns.Job DescriptionMaintains a safe and friendly environment, keeping patron well-being and satisfaction the priority.Certification through a reputable governing body and/or Junior status or above in Exercise Science or related field; and completion of Instructor Training Program (ITP), including successful test-out.Assesses, designs, and supervises exercise program for client according to their limitations and goals.Reports to appointments on time and in the proper uniform.Provides instruction on proper exercise equipment use and techniques.Addresses client concerns and questions involving Fitness Center or programs taking place within the Fitness Center.Reports any equipment issues, such as unsafe conditions or maintenance needs, observed during training to the Fitness staff.Knows and enforces Fitness Center policies, such as spring collar use, plate loading, treadmill clips, etc.Helps to promote the program in the Miami University and Oxford CommunityMinimum QualificationsCompletes the Personal Training Program (ITP) and/or a Certification through a reputable governing body within 30 days of employment.Obtains CPR/AED certification within 30 days of employmentAdditional Position Information (if applicable)Required Application DocumentsResumeSpecial Instructions (if applicable)NoneAdditional InformationA criminal background check is required.
