Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive private and semi-private fitness programs to help clients achieve their short and long-term fitness and wellness goals.

Conducts personal training sessions within policies and guidelines established by the Parker Recreation Center.

Tracks client paperwork in accordance with procedures developed by the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator.

Attends trainings and meetings for Fitness and Wellness staff, as required by Fitness and Wellness Coordinator.

Maintains accurate record of client training sessions by completing the Personal Training Activity Log after each training session.

Communicates client program progress and/or problems with the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator.

Takes pride in each client, assisting him or her in every way possible to reach stated Fitness and Wellness goals.

Schedules client training sessions, including communicating with clients if a session must be canceled or rescheduled.

Be punctual and behave in a professional manner.

Seek client feedback continuously.

Check mailbox regularly for allocation of clients. Contact each client within 24 to 48 hours after receiving their Health and Fitness Profile.

Assists with special events within the Fitness Division as well as participates in the annual shut-down week.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

Duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be 18 years of age.

A National Personal Training Certification in either AFAA, ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA or another nationally recognized certification association approved by the Fitness and Wellness Supervisor is required. CPR and First Aid Certification required. Bachelor's degree in a fitness related field is preferred.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current trends and research related to personal training techniques.

Knowledge of customer relations techniques.

Successfully demonstrates fitness-training skills.

Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public in answering questions and handling difficult situations.

Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment including a computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Must have a working knowledge of fitness equipment including weight, toning, and cardiovascular apparatus, as required to train assigned clients. May occasionally use a computer, software packages, facsimile machine, copy machine, or a printer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to stand and walk, occasionally required to sit, and frequently use hands, fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, or reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee is frequently required to carry, pull, push, or lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally carry, pull push or lift more than 100 pounds with assistance.

Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. Must be able to frequently engage in ordinary or telephone conversations with speech and hearing.

Employee must be able to consistently see with near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and field vision. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust his or her focus, allowing a broad field of vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in inside conditions Occasionally, the employee will be required to work outside or drive in varying temperatures and conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and may range from moderate to high with occasional vibrations. The employee will occasionally encounter fumes, odors, dusts or mists. The employee will occasionally work with mechanical hazards.

This position starts at $24.20/hr.!

Full pay range is: $22.81hr. - $28.90/hr.
