Job Summary :
Provides safe, quality patient care for all patients in the PET/CT department located within the Radiology department. Will aid the PET/CT technologist with all necessary tasks required to schedule and perform PET/CT exams. This role will also monitor the patient during PET/CT cardiac stress exams under the supervision of the Cardiology providers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Aids the PET/CT technologist in performing exams within the PET/CT department. May include injecting medications or radioactive isotopes.
* Monitor the patient during PET/CT cardiac stress exams. Includes attaching patient to EKG system, operating, and monitoring it during the cardiac stress test exams.
* Will aid the technologist in starting I.V.'s.
* Provides clerical support such as assisting with scheduling PET/CT exams, answering phone calls, and any necessary paperwork.
* Complete on-the-job radiation safety training and testing. This will include working with and proper handling of radioactive material per Kansas Department of Health and Environmental guidelines.
* Communicates effectively with patients/families and providers.
* Transports patients to and from the department as needed.
* Interacts with staff and co-workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships.
* Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time. This may include other duties within the Radiology department.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
* Minimum 2 years of experience in an RN related healthcare position.
* Experience in starting IV's
* Prefer EKG and Cardiology experience
Education:
* Must be a licensed registered nurse (RN( in the state of Kansas
* BLS and ACLS are required
Work Environment:
* Exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances
* Exposure to radiation from PET isotopes and X-ray producing devices
Physical Requirements:
* Occasionally lifts or carries items weighing up to 50 pounds
* Requires full range of body motion
* Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
* Vision and hearing to normal range
Other skills:
* Ability to care for patients undergoing PET/CT exams and to provide technical and nursing assistance during such treatments
* Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk
* Ability to direct and provide patient care in emergency situations
* Knowledge of EMR system
* Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
* Must possess excellent verbal and written communication as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals
* Works to achieve and maintain regulatory guidelines for PET/CT.
