Petroleum Reservoir Engineer

PO&G Resources is a rapidly growing, twenty-five year-old private oil and gas company. Due to ongoing growth and acquisitions, the company is hiring a Senior Reservoir Engineer.

Basic Function:

This position will be located at the company's Houston Galleria headquarters. The reservoir engineer is a key team member in collaboration with the companys operation engineers and field personnel to optimize the production and ultimate reserves from our conventional oil and gas assets. The reservoir engineer will prepare reserve analyses and coordinate with our third-party engineering firm in preparing the annual reserve report. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in waterflood optimizations as well as identifying opportunities to increase reserves at wells undergoing primary recovery. Ability to economically evaluate investment options a must.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Identify, prioritize, present, and monitor oil and gas development and exploitation projects to increase production and reserves
  • Identify reservoir mechanics and predict potential for additional recovery
  • Research field and well histories
  • Analyze cased hole and open hole well logs
  • Analyze pressure and production/injection data
  • Produce structure, production, isobaric, and isopach maps
  • Compile relevant oil and gas field data into a complete history and plan for future development
  • Evaluate economics and profitability of potential projects for the company
  • Work in an integrated team with operations engineers to progress reserve add projects to an executable status
  • Prepare reserve reports for bank and annual reports
  • Coordinate with accounting, and land departments as required
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend, and execute opportunities to maximize value through infill drilling, recompletions, well reactivations, waterflood optimizations, injection well conversions, etc.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum seven (7) years oil and gas experience with minimum five (5) years reservoir engineering experience
  • Proven ability to generate investment opportunities

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Clear understanding of business drivers and their implication in development projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets
  • Proficiency in PHDwin and geologic mapping tools (Petra) a plus
