Join our world-class, innovative team todayPosition Specific DescriptionEmployees in this role are responsible for assuring execution of the PGD Environmental Management System, ensuring site water, wastewater, and vegetation are maintained according to what is outlined in the site(s) environmental permits. Individuals in this position will manage all regional aspects of environmental compliance while executing plant processes and procedures to achieve short and long-term site goals and objectives in safety, environmental, compliance, reliability, availability, and cost management. This is a regional position that will manage the (Northeast/Central) region of Nextera Energy Resources Solar and Energy Storage while providing support to other regions when needed. Out-of-state travel, with the potential for overnight stays, will be required. In addition, this person will also be responsible for the following:
  • Focus on optimizing site environmental maintenance and performance.
  • Ensure required inspection and maintenance activities are conducted and submitted on time as outlined by site environmental permits.
  • Ensure on-time preparation and submittal of required environmental reporting to local/state/federal agencies.
  • Oversees adherence to site SPCC (Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure) and FRP (Facility Response Plan) requirements.
  • Develop relationships with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Apply sound Process and Project Management Skills to deliver results
  • Strong bias for action to address any site environmental deficiencies
  • Use of quality tools and techniques to solve complex problems
  • Standardizes processes, procedures, and techniques to ensure repeatability
  • Applies leadership skills for internal employee development and performance management
Overview:Employees in this role are responsible for assuring the execution of the PGD Environmental Management System and ensuring regional environmental compliance per federal, state, and county permits.Responsibilities:Transition from Construction to Operations
  • Perform Pre-COD Site Walk down to document ongoing civil issues throughout construction and ensure compliance requirements are being met.
  • Identify and resolve operations-related environmental issues before COD. Ensure lingering items are captured in punch lists and completed ahead of turnover.
  • Collect site information and initiate permitting associated with all office buildings or operational structures.
  • Review all site-specific county, state, and federal permits. Ensure permit conditions are being met in the early stages.
  • Contractor coordination and contract setup for ongoing compliance-related maintenance and monitoring requirements
  • Procedure creation for any site-specific compliance requirements
  • Ensure proper close-out and sign-off on all construction-related permits. Support final agency walk-downs and ensure active permits are transitioned to the operations phase of the permit.
  • Train new and existing operations crew on all applicable compliance requirements.
Operational Support
  • Regional Environmental Program oversight and support
  • Compliance Assurance - Continuous verification Solar & Storage Environmental Management System (EMS) processes and procedures are executed in the field.
  • Manage Compliance Management tracker tasks and deadlines.
  • Preparation and support during internal and external environmental audits
  • Environmental agency interface - Local point of contact for agency inquiries and site visits
  • Environmental Event Response - Field support and management of environmental events.
  • Proactively identify and resolve site-specific compliance issues to prevent or minimize environmental impacts during events.
  • Perform internal and external reporting on environmental events.
  • Perform/support root cause analysis for environmental events.
  • Environmental Compliance Program - Maintain site compliance with permit conditions and agency requirements
  • Ensure sites perform site-specific compliance routine inspections and maintenance events ahead of the due date.
  • Perform routine and non-routine agency reporting.
  • Environmental contractor management and oversight.
  • Stormwater management system maintenance, conservation lands maintenance and monitoring, vegetation management, wildlife trapping response and reporting, oil spill prevention and response.
  • Perform regional annual staff environmental awareness and compliance training.
  • Civil/stormwater management and contractor coordination.
  • Hazardous material management, tracking, and disposal.
  • Water use permitting tracking, reporting, and well management.
  • Agency correspondence and reporting.
  • Environmental record retention / document management.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Environmental Science or related field
  • Knowledge of State and federal environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of Local flora/fauna and habitats
  • Oral and written communication skills as well as analysis, problem solving, compliance, leadership, and process/project management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Environmental record retention / management
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The estimated base pay for this position is $74,400.00 to $111,600.00 per year.
