Staff Pharmacists/Inpatient fill orders for medications, monitor patient medication therapies, provide drug information, and supervise and direct support personnel. In the absence of the inpatient pharmacy manager, a staff pharmacist/inpatient may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the inpatient pharmacy manager.Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Interprets medication orders (verbal and written) and accurately transcribes them to computerized patient profiles; maintains complete patient medication records.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile IV preparations, and issues controlled substances while maintaining required legal records.
  • Monitors medication therapy for contraindications, interactions, and appropriateness; assists with pharmacokinetic consults and drug dosing per protocol.
  • Reviews culture and susceptibility data to ensure antibiotic appropriateness and makes recommendations for changes.
  • Assists with anticoagulation consult services according to organizational protocols.
  • Detects, reports, and documents adverse drug events and medication errors promptly.
  • Provides clinical consultation to nursing and provider staff, recommending evidence-based therapies, monitoring plans, and cost-effective alternatives; attends ABC alert codes and is flexible with additional responsibilities
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Education - Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy with either a BS pharmacy or PharmD required.
  • Experience - Health-system pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.
  • Licensure - Currently licensed in the State of New York.
Location and Travel Requirements:
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
Location and Travel Requirements:
  • Onsite - Cayuga Medical Center - Pharmacy - 101 Dates Dr, Ithaca, NY 14850
  • Shift: This role is a (Flex Role) and work as follows:
    • (Mon- Fri) 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM - Regular Shift
    • (Mon - Sun) 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM - 1 Week per month
    • (Mon - Sun) Off - 1 Week per month
Pay Range Disclosure
  • $55.48 to $70.00 per hour
