Job Description:

The Pharmacist for at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) is responsible for providing oversight of our pharmacy system at all of PPGNY for all of our services. This role requires a deep commitment to providing compassionate and confidential care, ensuring patients receive the necessary education and support related to their medication and overall health. They will serve as the subject matter expert to guide and provide any trainings needed related to pharmacy and consult/collaborate with our medical and nursing teams. The pharmacist will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of pharmacy practice within the framework of reproductive health care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for our 340B program and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and medication therapy management, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to reproductive health services.
  • Oversight of our controlled substance practices and participation in the updating and implementation of our pharmacy policies (including controlled substances).
  • Performance of pharmacy inspections that are required at all of our health centers (twice yearly for all centers that administer controlled substances and once yearly for all other centers and then on an as needed basis, possibly quarterly for spot checks).
  • Ordering, stocking, and following policies surrounding our medication we dispense and administer on site.
Qualifications:
  • PharmD or equivalent degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
  • Experience with oversight and specific experience with 340B and oversight of controlled substances is preferred.
  • Experience with training clinical teams.
  • Valid New York State pharmacist license.
  • Strong knowledge of New York State regulations related to pharmacy practice, particularly in the context of reproductive health and abortion services.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and clear patient education.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to Planned Parenthood's mission of providing high-quality, nonjudgmental sexual and reproductive health care.
$140,000 - $147,000 a year

All positions at PPGNY require:

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
