Job Description:

Position Summary:

GLIN IPA is seeking a pharmacy intern to assist the pharmacy department with the management of quality reporting, closing medication related gaps in care and other day to day tasks as assigned. The pharmacy intern plays an integral role as part of the team assisting with patient education and counselling, as well as making therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a pharmacist.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist with the management of quality incentive projects to improve GLIN IPAs performance in payer contracting. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, roles and responsibilities include:
    • Provide adherence counselling to patients
    • Perform chart reviews relative to medication related HEDIS/STAR measures
    • Recommend therapy adjustments to providers to optimize medication regimens
    • Counsel patients on medication changes and provide solutions for related issues
  • Complete Medication therapy reviews, both for comprehensive and targeted intervention opportunities
  • Develop drug information newsletters to communicate relevant practice updates to network providers
  • Assist with drug information questions
  • Assist with data tracking team performance
  • Perform other duties assigned by management

Qualifications:

Education (Minimum Needed): Must have completed at least one year of pharmacy schooling and have a current, active NYS Pharmacist Intern license

Experience (Minimum Needed): ?1 year of previous community pharmacy related work experience preferred, but not required

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Needed for Performance of Job:

  • Ability to utilize clinical practice guidelines to make clinical recommendations and counsel patients on medication regimens
  • A foundational understanding of HEDIS and STAR quality measures helpful for this position, although not required
  • Candidate must possess strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel, preferred
  • Ability to work independently, as well as multitask

We offer an outstanding internship experience and great working environment. This position is conducted both onsite and remotely, when applicable. Working requirement is flexible, up to 40 hours per week during school breaks, and between 8 & 10 hours per week during the semester.

Pay range $15.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience and education levels
