Working Hours: Varies (Mon-Fri are 6:00am-4:30pm, 6:30am-5:00pm, and 7:30am-6:00pm)Every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday) 7:00am-3:30pm

Position Reports to: Director of Pharmacy
Department Description: Wilson Health's Pharmacy Department comprises of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, who undertake a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks including: procuring, compounding and dispensing medicines, along with advising healthcare professionals and patients on safe, effective and quality use of medicines.
Job Summary: Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision and direction of a staff pharmacist to perform technical task involving proper storage, distribution, and packaging of drugs, that are dispensed to patients and the tasks associated with record keeping, and patient charging.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Accurately select, label, and place medications in appropriate patient drawer or nursing care area.
- Deliver unit dose medications to patient care areas and/or automated dispensing technology in a timely and efficient manner.
- Accurately prepare IV's using sterile aseptic technique. Compounding total parenteral nutrition solutions, large-volume intravenous mixtures, and prepare chemotherapeutic agents.
- Assist with management of drug stock including, but not limited to, shelving new drugs stock (with proper rotation of items), arrange stock and organize storage areas, documenting the need for ordering items, checking for outdates and maintaining proper documentation and record keeping.
- Ensure that drug items are appropriately billed to proper patient or department in a timely manner.
- Assists pharmacists in managing incoming telephone calls to ensure proper triage of calls.
- Packages dry orals, liquid orals and small volume injectables in unit-of-use containers using a combination of mechanical equipment and manual procedures.
- Work at maintaining a good working relationship with all patient care personnel and other departments.
- Assist other pharmacy technicians, assist in training and orienting new employees and pharmacy students to the department's services.
- Rotate through all work areas of the pharmacy intermittently to remain efficient and knowledgeable of all technician tasks.
Qualifications: - Certified pharmacy technician
- Previous experience as a pharmacy tech in retail or hospital environment
