Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy Services Director provides clinical leadership and management and is responsible for dispensing of prescriptions and inventory control, medication therapy management, and providing support and consultation services to medical, behavioral health, vision and dental providers and health center support staff. The Pharmacy Services Director works closely with the Pharmacy Business Director to ensure that operations are carried out in a compliant and fiscally sound manner that meets the strategic outlook of Great Lakes Bay Health Centers.   • Oversees the pharmacy staff
    • Pharmacists, Pharmacy Techs & Delivery personnel
    • Maintains pharmacy staff coverage for the operational hours of the pharmacy
    • Develops and manages the pharmacist staff schedule
    • Manages staff leave/PTO requests, coverage and schedules in accordance with the organization and department standards and policies
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings
  • Directs pharmacy student/residency education and training programs
  • Lead hiring processes for all non 340B pharmacy staff
    • Coordinate with department staff to lead orientation and training programs, including 1:1's, coaching and leadership development
Clinical/Quality Pharmacy Programs – 30%
  • Develop and maintain clinical pharmacy services
  • Institute, monitor and complete MTM programs
  • Addresses situations which impact care delivery, safety and customer service
  • Assess Quality Improvement outcomes and scores
Operations – 20%
  • Oversee pharmacy operations of all pharmacy sites to ensure accurate dispensing of medications and appropriate patient counseling
  • Maintain compliance with all local/state/federal oversite authorities
    • State Board of Pharmacy
    • NCPDP
    • 340B/HRSA
    • DEA
  • Works with departmental leadership to develop and implement departmental policies, procedures and workflows for pharmacy services and operations
  • Plans for the upgrades and modernization of equipment
  • Generate reports to assess and monitor operational objectives
  • Assist Chief Pharmacy Officer in go lives of new pharmacy locations
  • Serves as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS) Coordinator.
Financial – 20%
  • Maintain sound fiscal practices by evaluating/monitoring suppliers and vendors
  • Generate reports to assess and monitor financial objectives

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy. Master's degree in administration or management, PharmD preferred. Licensure: Current Michigan Pharmacist License. Experience: Previous pharmacy supervisory experienced preferred. Skills: Computer literate. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Effective communication skills in dealing with assigned employees. Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. frequently. Hours of Work: Full-time. Flexible and varied. Extended hours and weekends as necessary or as assigned. Travel: Some travel between sites required. Statewide and national conferences as assigned.
