GENERAL SUMMARY:
Location: Novi, Michigan
Shift: Schedule: Full Time/Evening Shift-Monday-Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm.
PGY1 Experience Strongly desired, PGY2 experience preferred.
The Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Specialist position will be staffed within the Emergency Department as an integral member of the Emergency Care team. Key areas of clinical practice will include trauma response and emergency medicine management. The Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Specialist will also help guide antibiotic selection and initiation in Emergency department patients. The pharmacy specialist will also serve as a pharmacy liaison with emergency department leadership and will be tapped to contribute to the education of emergency medicine residents practicing within the facility. Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology. Serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacy discipline and provide guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership. Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems. Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate. Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients. Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients. Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care. Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies. Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs. Provide patient counseling when required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
+ Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
+ 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience or a PGY1 Residency Highly preferred:
+ PGY2 in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
+ Pharmacist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
