RAMC is looking for a Pharmacy Tech to join our team! Work Schedule: As neededPosition Summary:A pharmacy technician is committed to providing exceptional care to our patients. As a pharmacy technician, you will have the opportunity to establish relationships with our patients and work closely with other members of the healthcare team. Under supervision of the pharmacist, the pharmacy technician is responsible for prescription data entry, insurance billing, preparing medications, completing point of sale transactions, ordering/inventory management, and OTC merchandising. The technician will be expected to handle hazardous drugs (chemotherapy) with appropriate primary and secondary engineering controls and will be expected to comply with rules and regulations to ensure patient safety.In addition to prescription processing, the technician will be actively involved in the provision of clinical pharmacy services, such as immunizations, point of care testing, medication therapy management (MTM) services, compliance packaging, sample medication management, 340B program medication dispensing and Medicare Part B product dispensing. The pharmacy technician is essential to process improvement and is a vital resource in achieving the strategic goals of the pharmacy department.Job Relationships:Reports to the Director of Pharmacy; collaborates with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physicians, patients, families and employees of RAMC as well as vendors, public, civic organizations, regulatory agencies and other provider organizations.Primary Customer Served Neonatal (0 - 30 days) Infant (31 days - 1 year) Pediatric (1 - 12 years) Adolescent (13 - 18 years) Adult (19 - 65 years) Geriatric (> 66 years) Family/Visitors Physicians Community Agencies Social Work TeamEducation and Training Required: A minimum of high-school diploma or equivalent with competency of basic English and Math skills. Knowledgeable in relevant state and federal regulations and pharmacy policies and practices. Valid Wisconsin Driver's license. National Certification (CPhT) preferred. Completion of pharmacy technician training or equivalent, as determined by Pharmacy Director. BLS certified.Experience:Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Physical Requirements: Physical Demands:?Frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, manual/fine dexterity, grasping, and hearing-close distance.?Occasional bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling and squatting.?Occasional ability to lift/carry or push/pull up to 50 pounds. Sight:?Near and far vision is required in order to visualize computer screens, review documents, assist patients and other members of the healthcare team. Cognition/Communication:?Ability to participate in all aspect of communication in regards to writing, reading, math, hearing and comprehensive speech skills. Environmental Conditions:?Work is largely performed in a pleasant, indoor hospital environment. Potential Hazards:?Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.?Occasional exposure to hazardous material such as needle puncture, blood and body fluids.?May handle hazardous drugs.
