Controlled Substances Pharmacy Technician

Methodist Hospital Northlake

Gary, Indiana

As a full-time, nonexempt, CPS Solutions, LLC Controlled Substances Pharmacy Technician, you will primarily be responsible for oversight of storage, inventory, preparing for delivery of, and monitoring of all controlled drugs under the supervision and direction of a licensed pharmacist. They also participate in the training of other staff in the controlled drug processes. This technician also assists in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. Such duties include but need not be limited to: maintaining patient records; setting up, packaging, and labeling medication doses; filling and dispensing routine orders for stock supplies of patient-care areas; refilling and inventorying automated dispensing machines, maintaining inventories of medication supplies; and mixing medications with parenteral fluids. Technicians must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist

Schedule: This position will work 40 hours per week, on a varying day/evening/weekend schedule.

Starting Pay: $16 - $18 per hour, (Depending on related work experience).

Required Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or GED

* Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy

* IN Licensure/Registration/Certification requirements

* Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office

* Effective communications skills; verbal and written

Hospital Requirements: (may be required)

* (PPD) TB Skin Test - Proof of negative TB skin test within the last 12 months

* (MMR) Measles, Mumps and Rubella or A Blood Titer proving immunity

* Varicella - (2) documented doses or A Blood Titer proving

* Hep B3 Series (or declination)

* (Flu) Influenza-required for hire between Oct 1st-April 30th

* COVID Vaccine-Full
