Effective January 1, 2025 - our starting rate will begin @ $18/hour

The Pharmacy Technician Trainee performs a variety of duties and technical tasks in a hands on learning environment that is approved by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy. These tasks are designed to teach the medication dispensing practice through accurate preparation of doses, delivery of medications via computerized tube system or hand delivered as needed, maintenance of Pyxis stock, CII Safe, and processes discharges and transfers. Assures that medication stock is in date and not deteriorated through monthly assigned reviews. Repackages medications supporting the unit dose systems. Assists with monthly cleaning and disinfecting clean room per established procedure. Performs all duties of Pharmacy Technician Trainee under the direct supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.

Education - Active High School Attendance or High School Diploma/GED is required.

Licensure/Certification - Pharmacy Technician Trainees are expected to be a licensed pharmacy technician in the state of Maryland within 6 months of hire date. Failure to obtain licensure by this deadline will result in dismissal from the pharmacy technician training program. Pharmacy Technician Trainees must work under the supervision of a Maryland Licensed technician or pharmacist and will not perform delegated pharmacy acts until licensed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Basic computer/keyboard skills (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be able to complete online coursework on personal time.
