If you're passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative setting, New Bridge Medical Center is looking for a Pharmacy Technician.Job DutiesAssists pharmacists as directed with filling medication orders, preparing labels and delivery of medication or supplies to all patient care areas.Picks up medication orders from both unit dose and non-unit dose patient care areas, fills routine drug requisitions and delivers completed orders in a timely manner.Assures delivered medication are given to nursing personnel or securely stored in proper medication storage areas.Replaces floor stock medication.Reviews, maintains, rotates stock and restocks drug storage locations in main pharmacy and pharmacy satellites. Alerts Inventory Control Clerk, Pharmacist, Director of Pharmacy of drug supplies that need to be reordered.Packages pharmaceuticals, and IV medications including preparing and affixing all necessary labels to the packaged product for inspection and verification by a pharmacist.Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.Fills unit dose medication carts and area specific exchange carts.Performs all other duties as assigned by management.Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectationsMaintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures, and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.Familiar with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.OTHER JOB DUTIESPerforms minor housekeeping duties when necessary (e.g., dusting counters, vacuuming, cleaning sinks).Maintains pharmacy records (e.g., drug requisitions, crediting, charges, reports, files) as required.Attends pharmacy staff meetings.Makes suggestions to assist the pharmacy management in developing innovative programs to improve the efficiency of the drug distribution system.Performs other related duties as required.BASIC COMPETENCIESEducation/LicensesHigh school graduate or equivalent.Graduate from pharmacy technician training course/foreign pharmacist license preferred.Registered with the state of New Jersey as a Pharmacy Technician. By state guidelines, may beobtained within 180 days of being hired.ExperienceSix months' hospital experience in pharmacy/graduate from pharmacy technician training course/foreign pharmacist license preferred.SkillsGood oral communication.Good interpersonal skills.Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.JOB SETTING/PHYSICAL DEMANDSPharmacy and nursing units.Contact with patients, staff.Frequent prolonged standing/walking.Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.Lifts supplies/equipment; occasional heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lb.)We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive medical, dental, and vision plans.
