What Will you Do? As a Philanthropy Officer at Pine Rest, you'll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. You'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, engaging them in a way that maximizes their commitment to Pine Rest's mission. The portfolio will consist of individuals and organizations with the capacity to make major gifts to Pine Rest. This staff member will work collaboratively with other Foundation staff - and with Pine Rest leadership and colleagues as dictated by strategy - on the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects. Additionally, this individual will have oversight of Estate and Planned Giving for the Foundation. The Philanthropy Officer must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 qualified major and planned gift prospects and donors, meeting or exceeding institutional performance metrics while utilizing the techniques of moves management. Portfolios focus on those with capacities to make a gift of at least $10,000 annually or $25,000 over a pledge period.
- Complete a minimum of 120 organized face-to-face portfolio meetings annually.
- Implement a strategically planned travel schedule to meet with prospects and donors individually and at other events aligned with strategies and outcomes, whether sponsored by Pine Rest or in the community.
- Craft and implement detailed cultivation and solicitation plans for portfolio assignments.
- Draft, design, and prepare proposals needed for the solicitation of prospective donors, integrating within funding proposals institutional core mission and priority initiatives.
- Establish annual and long-term goals, objectives, and performance metrics in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Oversee plan and implementation of Estate Planning communication.
- Attend regular prospect management meetings.
- Manage an annual expense budget that supports portfolio activity.
- Form productive team partnerships with Foundation staff, including:
- With the Executive Director on plans that engage Foundation Board members, the President and CEO of Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, as well as other corporate leadership.
- With Prospect Development to ensure appropriate portfolio assignments and to ensure that activity is reflected accurately in performance metrics.
- With Donor Relations Manager to develop donor stewardship plans.
- With events point person on invitation lists, individual donor strategy, etc.
- Develop collaborative relationships and communications across department lines, involving staff in the donor cycle as dictated by donor strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate donor records in Raiser's Edge for each donor in portfolio.
- Ensure the option of Planned Giving is part of all portfolio managed strategies.
- Support all Foundation events.
What Does the Role Require? Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of five years of experience preferred in moving donors through the giving cycle, as well as proven ability to close five and six figure gifts.
- Knowledge of how major gifts and planned giving can be integrated in order to maximize work with donors. Basic understanding of planned giving vehicles is required.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with Raiser's Edge fundraising software preferred.
