The Phlebotomist will be responsible for the following:

  • Blood sample collection by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick.
  • Properly identifying patients prior to performing blood collection.
  • Following Laboratory protocols and procedures for blood collection.
  • Collection and other information into Laboratory Information System.
  • Ensuring that collected specimens are delivered to appropriate Laboratory department.
  • Maintaining properly stocked supplies on phlebotomy cart or tray and supply room.
  • Operating and performing patient testing on Point-of-Care Laboratory Instruments.
  • Assist with receiving specimens from Tube System and distributing specimens to correct department.
  • Training new-hire phlebotomist.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Other duties assigned by Supervisor or Laboratory Director.
