Part time Phlebotomist Opportunity Job Description The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture blood drawing and other specimen collection such as urine or fecal as required. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Packages specimens for transport. Stores specimen samples according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. 0-2 years of experience. Job Type This is a contract position with a duration of 13 Weekly. Work Site This is a fully on-site position in Liverpool, New York. This position is part time, 7:30-12:30pm Work Environment This is a fast-paced site, ideal for someone who has experience with higher volumes.
