Key Responsibilities- Perform blood draws, labeling, and specimen preparation following established procedures.
- Clearly explain venipuncture or other specimen collection processes to patients.
- Utilize proper techniques with both straight and butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and label them accurately.
- Centrifuge, split, and store specimens according to test requirements.
- Package specimens for transport, ensuring compliance with temperature and handling guidelines to preserve specimen integrity.
- Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training.
- Respond to phone inquiries and relay laboratory results as appropriate.
Required Qualifications- Experience with phlebotomy, specimen handling, and laboratory protocols.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
