Phlebotomist IIJob DescriptionThe main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the processof venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.Responsibilities+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.+ Update patient information and collect specimens according to established procedures.+ Clearly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients.+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.+ Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.+ Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.+ Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow specific procedures for transport to maintain specimen integrity.+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.+ Attend annual department trainings.+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential Skills+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states).+ Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.+ High School Diploma or GED.+ 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Experience with hard sticks and butterfly needles.+ Ability to travel to various sites as needed.+ Completion of a phlebotomy program.Work EnvironmentThe role involves traveling to various sites, including Auburn, Liverpool, East Syracuse, Oneida, Watertown, and Ithaca, NY.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00- Medical, dental & vision- Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital- 401(k) Retirement Plan - Pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available- Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents)- Short and long-term disability- Health Spending Account (HSA)- Transportation benefits- Employee Assistance Program- Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave)Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Liverpool,NY.Application DeadlineThis position will be accepting applications until Dec 30, 2024.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
