Bargaining Unit: UUP The Department of Lab Specimen Collection and Accessioning at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist/Clinical Laboratory Technologist 4. The successful candidate will:
- Perform venipuncture and fingerstick collection on inpatients and outpatients
- Maintain accurate logs of all venipuncture performed
- Process/handle specimens in Central Receiving area
- Log specimens via LIS (Cerner)
- Participate in all aspects of quality assurance, quality control, patient safety, continuing education and other aspects as needed
- Train and aid in the instrumentation of techniques to new personnel and house staff
Required Qualifications:
- One year of experience in venipuncture and clinical laboratories
Preferred Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy certification, ASCP certification or equivalent preferred
