UPMC Chautauqua, located in Jamestown, NY, is looking to hire a Casual Phlebotomist for variable shifts with scheduling flexibility. This position will work rotating weekends and holidays. Travel to support our Riverwalk and Fredonia labs would be required for this position.

Responsibilities:
* Engage with laboratory customers courteously and professionally, ensuring prompt responses to inquiries.
* Procure blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick techniques, adhering to patient identification protocols.
* Instruct patients on self-collection procedures for laboratory specimens, providing clear guidance and support.
* Demonstrate reliability and independent judgment to prioritize departmental needs and support workflow efficiency.
* Transport specimens from on-site and off-site locations to the laboratory, following established safety protocols.
* Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, quality control, and safety, including hand hygiene and isolation precautions.
* Perform administrative support duties and utilize computer systems to accurately manage demographic information and test orders.
* Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, fostering a supportive learning environment.
* Report unusual incidents to technical staff and supervisory personnel, ensuring effective communication and resolution.
* Monitor and maintain supply levels for essential functions, optimizing the use of materials and reagents.
Qualifications:
Required
* High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
* Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program
* Experience performing phlebotomy
* Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience
* Patient care experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
