Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
Phlebotomist will be responsible for greeting patients as they come into the lab, performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains the process of venipuncture and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear but courteous manner. Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understands all physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Ensures all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct. Packages specimens for transport and stores them according to required temperatures. Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department training. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Preps the site, handles insurance, billing, and processes samples. Provides excellent customer service to patients.

This is a contract position that will last for 3 months.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Portland, Oregon.
Work Environment
The candidate will be trained to cover Legacy Tox locations. Based out of Holladay Park location, must be able to float at 2 other locations and training location, all within 25 miles of each other. SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (hours will vary depending on location). CONTRACT DURATION: 3 Months. LabCorp contracts are initially slated for 3-6 months, with an average extension of 6-9 months. There is an opportunity to go direct, depending on business need and performance. In urgent situations, the consultant may be asked to float to a different LabCorp (Legacy) location.
