Job Description
The Phlebotomist will be responsible for identifying the best method for retrieving specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing, while maintaining top standards of safety protocol.
Responsibilities
+ Verify clinical lab test orders and address discrepancies with appropriate clinical staff.
+ Verify patient information using two patient identifiers.
+ Determine the best method for obtaining blood samples based on the specific patient.
+ Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingerstick.
+ Dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
+ Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintain daily tallies of collections performed.
+ Maintain quality results by following department procedures and complying with legal regulations.
+ Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.

Work Environment
The work schedule is from 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday. The position is based in Poughkeepsie. The company is growing, offering room for individual growth, and competitive pay. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00
