Along with joining our lab team as a Phlebotomist, with various statuses and shifts available, we offer competitive Total Rewards packages!**Responsibilities:**+ Procure appropriate blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick techniques.+ Instruct patients on collection procedures for self-collected laboratory specimens and collect other types of samples as needed.+ Transport specimens from collection areas to the laboratory while following established safety procedures.+ Interact courteously and professionally with all laboratory customers; respond to telephone inquiries promptly.+ Demonstrate reliability and independent judgment, prioritizing tasks to meet departmental needs and accepting appropriate authority.+ Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, quality control, safety, and personnel policies.+ Perform documentation duties, including entering demographic information, test orders, and managing sample data using computer systems.+ Train and orient new employees, students, and residents; inform technical staff and supervisors of unusual incidents.Required+ High school diploma or equivalentPreferred+ Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program+ Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy+ Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience+ Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**+ Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.+ Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal+ Act 33 with renewal+ Act 34 with renewal+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal**UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
