OverviewJoin our team as a variable shift, PRN, Laboratory Phlebotomist in Harker Heights, TX.Why Join Us?Thrive in a People-First Environment and Make Healthcare Better* Thrive: We empower our team with career growth opportunities and resources that support your wellness, education, and financial well-being.* People-First: We prioritize your well-being with a supportive, inclusive culture where you are valued and cared for.* Make Healthcare Better: We use advanced technology to support our team and enhance patient care.Get to Know Your Team:* Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.Responsibilities* Functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction and specimen culture collection instruction* Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.* Ensure specimens are obtained in accordance with laboratory guidelines.* Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.* Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.* Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.* Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.* Follows proper protocols for specimen packaging and specimen transport.* Responsible for specimen accessioning as assigned.* Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.* Performs proper drug screen collection and processing as assigned.* Answers laboratory department phone calls.* Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and reacts appropriately.* Provides phlebotomy services in a professional and patient centered manner.* Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.* Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient.QualificationsJob Requirements:* High School diploma or equivalentPreferred Job Requirements:* Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience* Certification from nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to:* National Heathcareer Association - Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA)* American Society for Clinical Pathology - Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP)* American Medical Technologists - Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT)* National Center for Competency Testing - National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT)* American Certification Agency - Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA)* Experience working in the clinical setting
