DescriptionSurfpoint Recovery is a cutting edge substance-use-disorder (SUD) treatment center located in Coney Island, Brooklyn NY. We are an OASAS-licensed and CARF-certified Center of Excellence. Surfpoint Recovery offers inpatient detox, withdrawal, and stabilization services, as well as inpatient rehabilitation services for individuals with substance use disorder. The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood of all patients entering the inpatient treatment program and providing the onsite medical staff with updates on lab results.Shift: Monday - Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm) Responsibilities:
- Collect blood samples from all incoming inpatient clients.
- Practice proper patient identification, label vials with patient names and dates.
- Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
- Conduct waived testing for urine and blood work.
- Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
- Dispose of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Keep your phlebotomy station well-organized at all times.
- Transpose all labs into each client's medical record for all urine and blood work results.
- Document route of specimens from collection to laboratory analysis.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current phlebotomy certification
- Current BLS Certification
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
