Summary Job Summary Collects and processes clinical laboratory specimens of the patient population. Job Responsibilities
- Assists in delivery of physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
- Performs venipuncture on patients ofall age groups and other specimen collection using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures.
- Maintains work area and supplies according to protocol between patients and end of shift.
- Maintains laboratory information system. Monitors error logs.
- Obtains diagnosis and patient demographics to ensure proper billing.
- Receives samples into the laboratory, orders, and accessions.
- Responsible for reference lab orders and results.
- May perform waived laboratory testing on-site and reports results according to government standards.
- Assists with specimen processing and pre-analytical testing functions.
- Provides training to students and other personnel populations.
Qualifications
- None required upon hire
- No experience required
- CPT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician from National Heathcareer Association (NHA) preferred OR
- PBT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred OR
- RPT - Phlebotomy Technician certification through American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred AND
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
