These programs support the educational, regulatory and strategic goals of the department. Scope of responsibility includes licensed professional and unlicensed professional staff and students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the development of education programs/curriculum, onboarding, training, continuing education and competency. Manages daily operations in the Clinical Laboratory Medical Technology Advanced Certificate Program and assists the Director of Education in strategic plans for all allied health professional training programs.RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic and Administrative Leadership:* Models leadership skills of professionalism, positive attitude, team building, good judgment, and respect. Provides leadership and initiative in improving strategic performance with effective decision making, planning and implementation skills. Encourages open expression of ideas and suggestions.* Under direction of the Director of Education, in collaboration with faculty and division senior management, develops long and short-term goals and objectives that are in alignment with both Medical Center and SMD goals. These goals include maintenance and growth of our educational programs. Actively works with University Academic Affairs, SMD and state/regulatory agency partners to influence and advance opportunities in these Allied Health Professions. Stays current with all laboratory personnel regulatory requirements. Ensures that Graduate Medical Education programs are in compliance.Program Assessment:* Continually assesses effectiveness of all programs and recommends/designs/implements improvements. Identifies needs and creates content for new educational programs/initiatives. Manages approved programs as directed and assists in development of curricula.Clinical/Medical Technology Program Management:* Admissions: reviews applicants for the program; oversees that interviews are scheduled; works with interview committee to select and admit candidates for the coming year.* Scheduling: develops bootcamp, clinical rotation and lecture schedules in collaboration with program education coordinators and faculty.* Curriculum Design: designs curriculum that meets NAACLS and NYSED standards and regulations.Advising:* Manager of student body. Advises students on: career goals, academics; and professional performance.* Grading/Student Assessments: manages grading policies and academic reports in the Learning Management System.* Course construction in Learning Management System.Graduation:* Oversees submission of graduation forms to the registrar.Personnel Management:* Coaches and mentors staff in educator roles within the department. Promotes and sets accountability for a just culture and engaged workforce. Instructs and supports Supervisors, Faculty, and Managers for coordination and effectiveness of onboarding, training, and continuing education/competency processes across the department. Provides curricular expertise/assessment techniques for clinical programs, management of instructional activities, and licensure/certification preparation as directed. May supervise daily activities of up to 2 staff members.Affiliate Program Management:* Coordinates schedules and trainings for students from affiliated allied health programs. Works as a liaison to these programs.Recruitment:* Oversees organization and management of recruitment programs to pathology professions, programs and positions with a focus on licensed technical positions. Leads committees and focus groups related to education, engagement, and recognition. Ensures that visitor programs follow policies and procedures set forth by Central Administration and the School of Medicine and Dentistry.Regulatory Leadership:* Functions as a resource with regard to accrediting and regulatory agency requirements including, but not limited to, NYSDOH and NYSED, NAACLS, CAAHEP, ACGME, CAP, and ASCP. Participates with professional organizations for continuing education and knowledge of best practices.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or a relevant science required.* Masters degree in relevant science, management or education field preferred.* Four years of clinical/training, with two years of teaching experience in a medical technology program; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.* Has knowledge of educational methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures preferred.* Experience in collaborating across departments preferred.* Excellent communication skills required.* Effective time management; organization; and ability to prioritize and adjust as needed required.* Ability to work efficiently & effectively in a dynamic environment.* Strong computer skills required.* Familiarity with complex information systems required.* New York State License to practice Clinical Laboratory Technology required.* MLS or MT Generalist ASCP Certification required.The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion to advance the Universitys mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create and Make the World Ever Better. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the jobs compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
