GENERAL PURPOSE:Under direction of the Department Education Manager and with supervision from the Phlebotomy Course Manager: oversees clinical and didactic educational activities; assists in development and maintenance of the course curriculum; implements program recruitment strategies; and provides graduates with information on interviewing and applying for employment in UR Medicine Labs. Assists with didactic and clinical training of additional programs as scheduled.Latitude for independent judgement. Responsible for technical performance of students in assigned area of responsibility.**RESPONSIBILITIES:****Recruitment and Candidate Selection**+ Receives, reviews and screens applications to the program and leads the admissions committee in selecting appropriate applicants. Ensures that interviews are scheduled appropriately. Assists in Leading Admissions Committee meetings providing a summary of applicant data. Corresponds directly with potential candidates and maintains this connection with incoming phlebotomy students.**Administrative Responsibilities:**+ Manages day to day operations of the student training as assigned. Works closely with the Phlebotomy Course Manager and Phlebotomy supervisors to ensure that scheduling of both clinical and didactic experiences aligns with program goals without creating interruptions in patient care.+ Interfaces with pre-analytic supervisors, schedulers and trainers to coordinate student didactic and clinical experiences.+ Assists in development of curriculum. Keeps organized and secure records on student learning outcomes. Assists with NAACLS accreditation.**Instruction and Training Responsibilities**+ Participates in clinical and didactic instruction; assesses student success on an ongoing basis in the professional and clinical arenas; leads lectures; oversees venipuncture training in the Patient Service Centers; provides opportunities for trainees to remediate if needed.+ Reports trainee progress to the Director of Education and the Phlebotomy Department Manager and Supervisors.**Clinical Training of Additional Affiliated Programs**+ Assists the Phlebotomy Department in providing didactic training to the URMC Nursing Department; as well as clinical hands on training to external affiliates including but not limited to: the BOCES WEMOCO Phlebotomy High School Program and East High School Phlebotomy Program.+ Assists with nursing practice clinical training when needed.**Orientation & Onboarding** **:**+ Ensures that incoming students are properly trained on accessing the curriculum and informed of the program expectations.+ Oversees selection of orientation materials for incoming students. Ensures that incoming students are acclimated to the department and PSC¿s.+ **Liaises with Department Recruiter to bridge to employment opportunities for incumbent graduates.****Clerical Duties** **:**+ Oversees event planning, recruitment, creating publications, room scheduling, meeting minutes and other program functions as required.Other duties as assigned.**QUALIFICATIONS:**+ Associates degree in science, management, or a related field preferred.+ Two years of phlebotomy experience with an additional two years of experience training in Phlebotomy; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.+ Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills in a team environment required.+ Strong verbal and written communication skills required.+ Exceptional multitasking and organizational abilities.
