Phlebotomy Supervisor - Laboratory Position Purpose and Scope of Responsibility: Supervises Phlebotomists on all shifts, coordinating and directing the daily activities of personnel to provide phlebotomy services to patients meeting ACH's standards of quality and efficiency. The positionis under general direction of the Manager and may be responsible for working various shifts, 40 hours/week subject to overtime and call back. Principal Accountabilities: Job Accountability #1 Orients, evaluates and schedules phlebotomists to provide qualified staff to deliver quality phlebotomy services. Communicates monthly with Lab Manager about scheduling issues or conflicts or concerns in Phlebotomy area. Job Accountability #2 Performs, coordinates and integrates tasks to ensure quality patient services are delivered in a timely manner. Job Accountability #3 Contributes to efficiency by ensuring appropriate levels of supplies and equipment are available. Job Accountability #4 Assist Lab Manager with competency assessments for phlebotomy staff, pulling QA reports and any other tasks that are needed for smooth operation of the laboratory. Assists Lab Manager with support with Cerner eservice requests as needed. Communicates well with Lab Manager about all issues and concerns regarding pre-analytical area of the General lab. Job Accountability #5 Contributes to optimal patient outcomes by collaborating other members of the healthcare team to provide phlebotomy expertise. Job Accountability #6 Other assigned duties within the scope of care as designated by the Supervisor/Manager. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and technical degree in phlebotomy or clinical technology Certification: Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency Experience: At least 4 years phlebotomy experience and prior supervisory experience preferred Other: Ability to pass standardized color-blindness test and flexibility to work overtime if needed
