SUMMARY: ##Phlebotomy Technician is accountable, adaptable for performing collection by venipuncture, capillary puncture, influenza nasal pharyngeal and oropharyngeal collection, or patient voided urine and perform waived testing with careful attention to safety, quality control, and procedural guidelines. Performs setup, maintain, and trouble shoot EKG instrument and routes testing information to Cardiopulmonary Department. Recognize abnormal scans and refer immediately to a physician or cardiopulmonary for review and immediate action, if necessary. Performs, and set up, result, basic maintenance and troubleshooting of CLIA waived and or moderate testing machines, including urinalysis, pregnancy, glucose, INR, Accuchecks, ACT, ISTAT, GEM, blood culture collection techniques and manual hematology. Prepare, process, and trouble shoot various types of patient specimens for testing per CLIA standards.# Routinely performs projects in lab, if necessary.# Perform clerical duties including auditing and processing OP requisitions for completion, registering, insurance verification, medical necessity, and filing and routing of patient information to/from Admissions and date collections. ##May routinely assists in between lab draw collections the MLT and MT with sample loading on the hematology analyzer and chemistry automation system, loading the blood culture machine, urine bench POCT testing of HCG, Occult bloods, and drug screen cup reads, culture set ups in MICRO and basic maintenance and troubleshooting of POCT analyzers. #Perform other assigned duties necessary for smooth operation of Laboratory Services.# JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent with sufficient science classes to meet CAP/CLIA requirements Experience: 6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certifications: #Required: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Phlebotomy Technician, PBT (ASCP) Other: Specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; 6 month lab competency and education verified.# Basic computer skills required.##################################################################################################################### Preferred Education: Associates Degree Safety Sensitive Designation: This position is deemed safety sensitive in accordance with Arkansas Act 593 governing Medical Marijuana.
