Job Description:
The goal of physical education is to introduce students to the basic elements of exercise that will lead to a healthy lifestyle. Physical education instructors may also use various physical activities to teach about the cultural and historical aspects of sports.
Jefferson Community College adjunct physical education instructors must be skilled at teaching a variety of activities. We offer such activities as hiking, outdoor camping, backpacking, racquetball, pickleball, volleyball, badminton, basketball, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, spinning, yoga, dance, bowling, archery, golf, martial arts, health and wellness, and adventure activities; online course in physical conditioning and power walking.
Requirements:
Required: Physical Education instructors are required to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Education. These programs can teach one the basic activities of physical education classes and the science behind physical activity.
Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

This is a pooled search. Jefferson Community College is seeking to develop a pool of qualified applicants to teach courses in Physical Education. Adjunct applications will be kept on file for three years to fill part-time teaching vacancies as they occur.
The College determines the need for adjunct instructors based on planned courses each term; it is not possible to predict the need for future semesters. When an opening does occur, finalists for adjunct positions are contacted for interviews.
Level A - $665/credit hour
Level B - $785/credit hour after teaching 6 semesters at Jefferson.
