Salary Range: $14,000 - $32,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education. The Dalton School, a K-12 independent, coeducational school located in Manhattan, is consistently recognized as one of the top independent day schools in the nation. It has a total enrollment of about 1,300 students and a faculty and staff of approximately 350.Dalton's Physical Education department seeks a leave replacement Physical Education Teacher starting immediately through December 20, 2024 (with the possibility of an extension through the spring semester). This faculty position includes teaching physical education classes, along with coaching responsibilities with the expectation to follow the values and ethics of the Dalton School. The physical education teacher reports to the Physical Education Department Chair and the Director of Athletics and Physical Education. Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple sections of physical education for students in grades 3 through 12.
- Plan, implement, and revise physical education curriculum as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Coach middle school and high school teams across three seasons.
- Demonstrate the ability to coach at least one varsity-level sport.
- Fulfill additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and collaboration with colleagues.
- Flexibility in scheduling to meet coaching and teaching responsibilities.
- Prior experience teaching physical education is preferred.
- Master's degree in physical education or a related field is preferred.
