Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Care Network, as a Physical Therapist at our Hinsdalelocation. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The Physical Therapist (PT) performs moderately complex physical therapy services/procedures in one of the clinical divisions of the practice. The Physical therapist will be responsible for program development within PT services and the supervision of patient care rendered by PTA's, technicians, and PT students as assigned. The Physical Therapist II directly reports to the site manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Evaluates patients utilizing advanced test and measurements; to determine the physical therapy problem/level of function and the expected discharge environment
  • Promotes and has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients
  • Establishes PT interventions based upon the examination and evaluation ; patient/family, referring practitioner and therapist goals
  • Competently performs physical therapy services, utilizing the advanced techniques and procedures
  • Provides for continuity of patient care through written and verbal communication with team members and other treating disciplines, especially in preparation for planned absences
  • Documents findings; progress, procedures performed within timeframes required
  • Submits all patient billing at the end of each day
  • Instructs patients/families in home programs
  • Demonstrates effective time management; achieves designated productivity standard
  • Develops new programs, supports research, develops and monitors Performance Improvement processes
  • Participated in departmental and/or organizational committees as assigned
  • Complies with QC/QI standards/monitors
  • Supervises, teaches and mentors affiliating PT/PTA students
  • Coordinates patient care provided in area of clinical practice
  • Assumes lead responsibility in the absence of the supervisor as assigned
  • Consults re. PT services; with faculty, house staff and other disciplines
  • Attends rounds, conferences and clinics as assigned; reports on patient status and recommends patient discharge environment
  • Performs other duties as requested by therapy services management

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved physical therapy school with, Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate entry level degree in P.T.
  • Current physical therapy license in the State of Illinois
  • CPR recognition
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care which is age specific/appropriate for the types of patients served
  • Basic computer knowledge /skills to access patient data
  • Appropriate interpersonal skills to enable positive interactions with patients/families, the multidisciplinary team and external contacts
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical physical therapy experience
  • Declaration of intent to develop advanced, clinical knowledge and skills in a focused area of clinical practice
