Why does the job exist?Position will provide physical therapy interventions as prescribed by a licensed physician, Interventions attempt to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical impairments. How does it get done?Plan, prepare, or carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients. Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation. Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer. Who are the customers?Residents at a long-terms care facility. Ideal CandidateWill have: The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. The ability to function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies. Minimum QualificationLicensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of New Mexico OR eligible to be licensed in New Mexico before date of hire. Employment RequirementsThis position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Licenser to practice as a Physical Therapist in New Mexico. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA) training. Working ConditionsWorks in office areas, therapy rooms, resident rooms, etc.Moves intermittently during working hours.Is subject to frequent interruptions.Is involved with physicians, residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).Is subject to exercising and massaging residents.Must be constantly alert for resident safety.Attends and participates in continuing educational programs as may be required by current regulations.Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.Is subject to lifting, carrying and supporting residents.Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, other departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents physical therapy needs.
