Albany Medical Center Outpatient Physical Therapy is seeking a PER-DIEM Physical Therapist. (Minimum 8-16 hours per pay period) We are looking for a self-motivated therapist with an interest in treating a wide variety of patient populations. Specialty training in orthopedic or neurologic populations are encouraged by not required. Strong diagnostic and manual treatment skills are recommended.
Our large facility provides both open gym area and private treatment rooms with state-of-the-art equipment including Bioness Vector, Aquacisor, Bioness BITS and Radial Pulse Wave units.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide services that restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. They also restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include but are not limited to the following:
* Competent in the performance of essential skills for any physical therapist include those addressing all systems (ie, musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular pulmonary, integumentary, GI, and GU) and the continuum of patient/client care throughout the lifespan, as defined in department policies and procedures manual.
* Examine patients' medical histories and is able to test and measure the patients' strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.
* Applying diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
* Interprets, plans, establishes, and implements treatments
* Advise, consult, and teach appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and others.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Develop plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcome.
* Develops and analyze reports and data necessary for unit operations.
* Complete and maintain necessary paperwork/case documentation to ensure accountability.
* Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
* Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge; serve on committees as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
Must hold a current New York State registration to practice in the State of New York and current CPR certification.
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year clinical experience preferred in Outpatient Physical Therapy setting but, not necessary. New graduates welcome.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to document patient care on established forms. Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively to patients, family members, employees and others. Ability to listen well, to take direction and to engage in interactive dialogues with others. Ability to seek out the input of others to achieve consensus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Calculation of percentages, mean, mode, and median.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
Ability to be honest, to be punctual, and to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC and the tenets of the profession. Ability to evaluate the human body and formulate and administer a treatment plan based on the physical therapy evaluation, including subjective information & objective tests and measurements gathered. Ability to use various modalities in relation to the electromagnetic and acoustic spectra. Ability to be accurate in such matters as record-keeping, simple statistical analysis, and to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others. Ability to instruct and disseminate knowledge of physical therapy both internally and externally. Ability to accept direction, carry out orders, to work cooperatively with others and to avoid the creation of unnecessary conflict. Ability to adhere to AMC's policies, procedures and practices, and to utilize AMC's problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements. Ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure the continuity of appropriate patient care. Ability to evaluate, monitor and direct financial aspects of clinical operation.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
