Job Description and Duties
The Physical Therapist II supervises the staff assigned to the Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Departments. The incumbent is responsible for overall planning, training, supervision, evaluation and day-to-day operation of the Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Department. Responsible for the provision of Physical Therapy consultation, evaluation and services to clients as ordered by physician. Provides treatment in the areas of motor function and development, mobility and ambulation skills. Also assesses the need for adaptive equipment, mobility aids, seating and positioning systems and therapy interventions as needed.
Will also consider the Physical Therapist I, DMH & DDS classification.
The Physical Therapist I is responsible for the provision of Physical Therapy consultation, evaluation and services to clients as ordered by physician. Provide back-up services for those clients whose primary therapist is absent from this facility. Provide treatment in the areas of motor function and development, mobility and ambulation skills. Also assess the need for adaptive equipment, mobility aids, seating and positioning systems and therapy intervention as needed.

Working Conditions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Ongoing interaction and contact with clients, nursing staff, other disciplines, and the general public. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. May require prolonged sitting and the use of computers and telephones.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers.
