Job DetailsJob LocationFredonia site - Fredonia, NYPosition TypePart Time, 12 MonthSalary Range$29.69 - $35.22 HourlyDescriptionBuffalo Hearing & Speech is currently looking for a part time (2-3 full days/week) Pediatric Physical Therapist to work at our preschool special education program in Fredonia. The PT is part of a multi-disciplinary team working towards the student's IEP goals.The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing PT services to students of BHSC whose ability to function is impaired by congenital or developmental disability, physical illness or injury, through examinations, evaluations, diagnosis, prognosis and interventions for the highest functional outcomes.Essential Functions:
- Display thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of physical therapy.
- Adhere to the standards of clinical practice established by the American Physical Therapy Association
- Responsible for the evaluation of therapy needs. Participate in the creation of the treatment plan, revising as necessaryb. Perform physical therapy procedures as ordered by physician or documented on IEP. Communicate with OT/PT Manager as appropriate to evaluate patient needs
- Collaborate with other team members or those individuals designated by the agency (e.g. family members, teachers, speech-language pathologists, consumers, etc.) to facilitate comprehensive treatment
- Serve as a supervisor and mentor to PTAs as well as student PTs
- Participate in the delivery of in-service education programs. Participate in formal staff training and formalized in-service training as appropriate
- Record on patient charts all appropriate occupational therapy evaluations, progress notes, consultations and discharge summary information. Submit all notes, evaluations and required forms within agency guidelines. Maintain such records and prepared such reports as requested by the agency
- Make recommendations for purchases of specialized program materials, supplies and adaptive equipment
- Any other duties as requested by your supervisor
Education Required: Graduate of a Physical Therapy curriculum from an accredited university or collegeRequired License: New York State Licensed and Registered as a Physical TherapistPhysical Requirements:
- Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; standing, sitting, bending, lifting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, crawling, running, twisting & turning.
- Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
- Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients
