They will provide screening, evaluation, and intervention services to facilitate their educational goals. The physical therapist is expected to problem solve effectively and demonstrate a high level of professional judgement when recommending and providing appropriate services, making environmental modifications and training staff to manage physical needs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.Adheres to professional, ethical and legal standards of physical therapy practice.Develop, implement and coordinate the physical therapy program to address educational needs of the students.Select, administer and interpret a variety of screening instruments, and standardized tests and utilize skilled professional observation and evaluation.Interpret assessment findings and provide recommendations and appropriately convey information to parents and education team.Participate with the education team to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 plans.Develop and implement intervention strategies to allow students to benefit from their education program as well as measure and document student response from the designed interventions.Communicate and consult with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community and other professionals. Provide recommendations for safe transfer techniques for students with disabilities and training for staff as indicated.Assess need and recommend assistive devices necessary for function at school.Contribute to the planning of safe transportation of students with disability to and from school.Participate with improving school accessibility and planning environmental modifications.Reports to school on time.Maintains confidentiality.Adheres to and enforces CCSD Code of Conduct.Participates, when appropriate, in continuous professional growth.Attends required meetings and follows building rules, procedures and district policies.Maintains positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with students, staff, caregivers, colleagues, district personnel and community.Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, staff, caregivers and community.Provides supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom in accordance with building and district expectations.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises classroom and students.
